  • Specialises in matters relating to the cost of distressed projects, or those in formal dispute. 

CHRISTOPHER DAUBNEY 

Chris is a chartered Quantity Surveyor with over 15 years’ experience delivering construction and engineering projects in Client, Contractor and Consultancy teams.

 

Chris’ experience extends to projects performed in multiple jurisdictions including the United Kingdom, Indonesia, Malaysia, Korea, Australia and New Zealand.

 

Chris’ specialism lies in matters relating to the cost of distressed projects, or those in formal dispute. As a consequence, Chris is regularly required to apply his expertise in the assessment of claims relating to multi-faceted scenarios including prolongation, variations, acceleration, disruption and defect remediation.

 

Chris’ project background, coupled with his academic learning and exposure to a significant number of disputes, enables the provision of  pragmatic experience-based advice in response to his clients’ unique circumstances..

 

Chris’ objective is to provide well-researched, balanced and cogent opinion. This has led to appointments as an Independent Expert Witness on numerous occasions for matters in formal dispute across Australia and New Zealand.

Chris' experience includes:

  • Chris has been appointed to provide independent expert quantum analysis and opinion for matters in litigation, adjudication and arbitration.

  • Chris routinely leads a team of surveyors and construction professionals in the performance of relevant investigations for his expert commissions, either as the lead expert or as the lead assistant to the nominated expert.

  • Chris  is regularly appointed by clients to undertake peer reviews of claim submissions or rebuttals through the lens of the expert witness. Chris’ pragmatic and trusted advice has led to numerous appointments on a repeat basis on some of the largest infrastructure and construction projects in Australia.

  • Chris’ experience across the project life cycle including transaction management, through to project delivery and contract closeout, coupled with an extensive exposure to distressed projects  means Chris is well placed to advise on best practice in the contract administration of projects of varying sizes.
